Sunday Book Review – The Curse of Captain LaFoote

Posted by Lisa Lickel on February 13, 2011

Book One of the Caribbean Chronicles

RICKY BRADSHAW has never sailed the Caribbean Sea, searched for buried treasure or battled pirates on the deck of a Spanish Galleon. He’s never fallen through the floor of Davy Jones’s locker, befriended a witch doctor or watched an old fisherman morph into a porpoise. Ricky is lonely, but all that changes on a snowy Christmas Eve when Ricky watches his apartment building burn and he must choose between the afterlife and the lonely past. Ricky awakes on a raft in the middle of the sea. There is surprising beauty on every island, danger around every corner and great honor and glory ahead of him… if only Ricky can summon the courage to survive the curse of Captain LaFoote.

The Curse of Captain LaFoote

A Young Adult / Tween novel, Rated PG13

Ebook ISBN – 978-1-935600-05-3

 Print ISBN – 978-1-935600-04-6 on February 14, 2011

♦♦♦♦♦ Reflections

I admit that I’m a little more than biased about this book. I helped edit it, and fell head over heels in love with Ricky and Barnacle, and even the crew of the Black Avenger. Join Turtle Bill, Doc, Ricky and Beckwith as they sail the Caribbean for Port Charles and trouble.

An accident on Christmas Eve sends Ricky through time to a boatload of trouble. Adrift on the sea, he’s rescued by a mysterious old salt, Paco. Their boat is attacked and Ricky is pressed into service with the pirate captain, LaFoote, who is delivering the squire and his slave cargo to Santa Maria. Or is he? The Curse of Captain LaFoote is everything a rocking good adventure story should be: danger, romance and adventure of every sort, on land and sea. A great read.

Come back on Tuesday for a visit with the author, and follow along on his book tour. Enter the give-away contest at one of the following blog tour stops (This site wouldn’t allow the form to be posted.)
