Welcome, Lynn Squire!
I grew up on a farm in Southern Alberta. There I spent my days playing a pioneer or a character from a book (and every so often succumbing to my parents’ work ethic). My imagination would take me to faraway places and on grand adventures.
But the greatest adventure I embarked upon began when the Lord Jesus Christ set me free from the captivity of sin and all its entrapments. He put me on a different course with Him as my captain. I do slip up along the way, but because of Christ’s great sacrifice, my destination is secure. Praise God I do not have to depend on my own righteousness to guarantee my place in Heaven. I love Psalm 37:23-24, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” I’m glad God is holding my hand.
Besides having a number of articles on horsemanship published, I write a fiction-writing column in the Ready Writer. I have written and contributed to manuals on horsemanship including Certified Horsemanship Association Riding Instructor and Trail Guide Manual.
About a decade ago, I received the Author’s Award from the Horse Daily Planner Publications and later earned a diploma from the Institute of Children’s Literature. I enjoy being an active member of The American Christian Fiction Writers, and in particular, enjoy working with other authors.
Now living in California with my husband and three children, I spend several hours a day corralling my vivid imagination into short stories, novels, and creative nonfiction, though of late I find myself compelled to write devotionals. This writing time brought about Best of Faith, Fiction, Fun, and Fanciful, my latest novel Joab’s Fire, and my recent release A Week of Faith More Precious than Gold.
The cover pictured here is for A Week of Faith More Precious than Gold. It contains seven short stories with discussion questions to be used for either personal or group Bible study. This book drew from my own desire to find the cliché “meaning of life.” Over twenty years ago I wondered if I could be a martyr. I suppose since that time I’ve been fascinated by the kind of faith that would enable a person to die for it. So while others say, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus,” I say, yes dear readers, there is a God who enables one to have a faith worth dying for.
I suppose some would think I’m morbid or crazy or downright selfish, but I have found peace in death. Actually, I have found peace in the gift of God, eternal life. I have looked at this world and found it more than lacking in light of the eternity God has guaranteed me. There is nothing this world can offer me that can keep me from longing for my heavenly home.
Now, God has me here for a purpose. Part of that purpose is caring for my family. Part of it is glorifying Him and bringing Him pleasure by telling others of this wonderful gift of eternal life. And part of it is simply getting to see Him at work in wondrous ways.
A Week of Faith More Precious than Gold comes from my exploration of the faith that keeps a person from clinging to this earthly life. The stories are fictional accounts of men and women who saw that faith in God was more precious than all that this world has to offer.
If you look at the collection of books I’ve authored, you’ll notice two things. One, they speak of faith. Two, they are independently published. A Week of Faith More Precious than Gold, is the first under the imprint Faith Journey Books. After discussions with my closest writing friends, I created the imprint with the idea that books which reach a certain standard of faith and writing would receive some recognition. My friends and I discussed many different ways to set apart books that honor God, beyond what CBA does.
I am in the process of creating http://faithjourneybooks.blogspot.com/ for the purpose of connecting readers with books they can trust to hold to Biblical truth and a high moral standard. From time to time, I will be putting a review of such books up on this blog. You’ll also find a statement of faith and purpose and some tips for writers as well.
If you want to purchase a copy of A Week of Faith More Precious than Gold, you can go purchase it at Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.
