What I’m Learning in VBS This Week
Posted by April W Gardner on June 7, 2012
Vacation Bible School is in full swing around the nation, including Warner Robins, GA. In my church, I’m a teacher in the Sky High Movie and Missions class.
No matter our age, if we keep our hearts open and sensitive to the Spirit, we can learn something right alongside the kiddos. And then there’s the unexpected–the things the kids teach us whether we asked for it or not. Four nights in, and here’s what I’ve learned:
- A lot can be learned about a child by looking into his eyes.
- “Let not your heart be troubled” means “Don’t go into the woods.” (according to 6 year-old Alice)
- There are sad and hurting children all around us.
- Andrew found a rattlesnake in his backyard.
- Nothing is impossible with God!
- In Mali, Africa, 2,000 kids die every day from malaria.
- No matter how you feel…trust God!
- Andrew found a rattlesnake in his backyard.
- One mosquito net costs $6.00 and protects 2-3 children for up to four years.
- Kids love to talk about their lost and dead pets.
- God is at work all around us, and if we watch for Him, we can’t help but spot Him!
- Chadder the Chipmunk has had too many near-death experiences to not need psychiatric help.
- Andrew loves his rattlesnake story.
The adventure continues tonight!
Are you participating in your church’s VBS this summer? If not, you should! Think of all the learning experiences you’ll miss if you don’t…
